Stella Ziopoulou is a Violinist and Young Composer born in Athens, Greece. She has obtained her Violin diploma, Harmony Diploma, Counterpoint Diploma and Fugue Diploma. In 2020 she graduated from the Composition Classes of the Composer E. Kokkoris obtaining her Diploma with Distinction and winning the First Prize. She also plays the electric violin, the mandolin, the piano, some percussion. In addition she is a singer, songwriter and lyricist. Flamenco dancing is one of her favourite pastimes. She graduated from the University of Piraeus in 2010 with a degree in International and European Studies and obtained her postgraduate degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies at Panteion University Athens, making her thesis on “International Relations - Strategy and Musicology- Music: Parallel Worlds”.
Her composition "The words were dripping" was presented during the «5th Musa Hellenica Festival» on the island of Chios in July 2021, under the guidance of A. Kalogeras. Stella's composition "Shades of Alleviation" was chosen by the Thessaloniki City Symphony Orchestra to be used in the composition workshop held in collaboration with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Greek Composer’s Union. The composition was presented by the Thessaloniki City Symphony Orchestra in a concert dedicated to people with special needs in December 2019. Her intense yet light and bright composition “Une Hirondelle Dans Les Nuages” was chosen by French composer Alain Louvier to be presented during the masterclass to honour the French composer Olivier Messiaen at Athens Conservatory in February 2019. Stella’s composition “La Noche De Una Estrella” was presented at the Theater of the Nakas Conservatory in the context of the event «Ηymns of the Night» in March 2019. She has also attended seminars by Professor P. Liaropoulos of the Berklee College of Music.
Stella's Film & Theater music
Stella has participated as a stage musician in the theatrical performances, “Junkermann” directed by D. Tarlow, at the Poreia Τheater in Athens, “From Antigone to Medea” & “Wonderful languages of the world” directed by K.Gakis at the Alfa Τheater in Athens and "Feggaroklosti" at the F. Nakas Conservatory. She collaborated in the composition of music for the theatrical performance “From Antigone to Medea”. This outstanding performance was invited to take part in the 15th Busan International Performing arts Festival, South Korea in May 2018 and also in festivals throughout several cities in Greece. For the summer of 2021 she was the assistant musician of A. Triantafyllou at the theatrical performance “Iphigenia In Tauris” directed by G.Nanouris and presented at Epidauros Theater among others. Stella has attended the workshop on the composition of music in theatre as organized by the National Theater of Greece concerning the composition of music in Theater.
Stella as a Violinist
She has collaborated with many orchestras among them “Palintonos Harmony Orchestra” of the composer Y. Markopoulos, Greek Turkish Youth Orchestra, Chamber Symphony Orchestra and “Greek orchestra” with whom she recorded for the Greek National Radio. She was also member of the Athens Youth Symphony Orchestra. As a member of the orchestra she collaborated with the Athens State Orchestra under the baton of Maestro V.Christopoulos. Stella is a founding member of the Trio Triaccordo and she is responsible for the arrangements of the music sheets. She has been leading member of the string quartet of the agency “Music Now Events” since 2019. She is also member of the groups “Cinema Paradiso Project” and “Nora’s Cinematic”.

From 2022, Stella has been collaborating with the recording company FMrecords as a composer and violinist. She both cooperates with several DJs creating electronic music by the name Stella Zio and she also creates her own songs mostly with greek lyrics in a swing-jazz style that presents in the public as Stella Ziopoulou. Stella has joined forces with and contributed to the recording CD’s of various Greek artists such as Z. Tiganouria, E. Voudouraki, T.Tsilis, Seqstyle e.t.c.
She is a violin and music professor at the National Conservatory of Greece, at Doukas school and at Hellenic French school of Ursulines among others. Stella has written the music-pedagogical book for young children entitled "Journey to the City of Music Notes" which is accompanied by a CD with songs in her own music and lyrics and is available by Nakas editions.
